Topografische kaarten

Wandelkaart - Topografische kaart OL44 Explorer Torquay - Dawlish - Newton Abbot | Ordnance Survey

Map sheet OL 44 Map is the perfect map for exploring the Eastern edge of Dartmoor national park and the coastal areas of Torquay, Teignmouth, Dawlish and Paignton. This map replaces the previous OS Explorer map 110 for this area. Highlights of the area include: The River Exe, E9 European Coastal Path, Paignton Zoo, Newton Abbot, the River Teign, Babbacombe Bay and Tor Bay. These highly detailed maps show all the administrative boundaries, settlements as small as isolated farms, the road network down to unfenced roads and country tracks, and field boundaries (hedges and drystone walls) which make navigation across the countryside much easier. Steep gradients on roads are indicated. Various landmarks, e.g. powerlines, archaeological sites, windmills, churches and lighthouses are shown and additional graphics indicate natural terrain features such as cliffs, scree, mud and vegetation variations. The contour interval is 5 metres in the lower parts of the country and 10 metres in the uplands, and spot heights are marked. Each map covers an area of 30 x 20km (i.e. approx. 19 x 12 miles), with some double-sided maps covering more, as indicated in the individual descriptions. The maps are fully GPS compatible, with the National Grid shown at 1km intervals and latitude and longitude indicated by margin ticks at 1'.The Explorer series has replaced the earlier, green-cover Pathfinder maps. The Explorer series is now complete and covers all of England, Wales & Scotland. Some sheets for popular areas like the National Parks are still branded as Outdoor Leisure (OL) maps, but are now included in this series as the cartography is the same as that in the Explorer Maps. The Explorer maps offer a substantial improvement on the Pathfinder series, with greater use of colour, larger area per map, and stronger emphasis on information for ramblers and tourists. This series is ideal for walking and other outdoor pursuits and each map shows a large amount of information for ramblers and tourists. Public rights of way are shown (except in Scotland), together with other routes with public access: National Trails and Recreational Paths, permitted paths and bridleways, and selected cycle routes. Open access land created under the Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000 is marked. Tourist information includes caravan and camp sites, Park & Ride locations, recreation/leisure/sport centres, museums, historic buildings, English Heritage and National Trust sites, rural pubs, etc. The map legend is in English only, except for the tourist information content which is also in French and German.

Natuurgidsen

Natuurgids - Reisgids 52 Wildlife Weekends in England and Scotland | Bradt

This first guide to British wildlife experiences packaged into 52 weekend-sized breaks highlights the best of British wildlife – from tiny silver-spotted skippers to gargantuan basking sharks, from seabird skyscrapers to autumn fungi. For both the experienced wildlife tourist and the novice, the suggestions criss-cross England, Scotland and Wales. With stunning colour photos the author shows when, where and how to see Britain's most exciting wildlife – complete with inspiring itineraries, engaging descriptions, detailed directions and tips on how to find, identify and enjoy British animals and plants. Each entry gives details on species of interest, the landscapes they inhabit and on how to plan the weekend. A 'at a glance' box summarizes details with a thumbnail map. Each entry suggests accommodation. ""Enthused by bringing nature to life for the non-specialist" reads the biopic of author James Lowen on the opening page of 52 Wildlife Weekends. This sentence really encapsulates the spirit of this 230-page Bradt Travel Guide. A diarised walkthrough of 52 wildlife-filled weekend destinations to explore and experience in every corner of the British countryside, this is a guide that will find a home in the caravans, tent pockets and backpacks of nature-lovers just about everywhere. The guide is laid out following the pattern of a year, with 52 mini-chapters each extolling the virtues and highlighting the wealth of wildlife that can be found at a particular destination in Britain at that time of year. Each month of the year has four or five suggested weekend destinations, carefully timed for optimal outcomes within that particular season. Lowen's eager, superlative-laden descriptions create compelling adverts for each destination, providing not just a taste but some real flavour and colour to each weekend. A look at the map of the 52 destinations reveals that the chosen locations are well spread geographically. If I were to pick nits over the location choices, it would be the sparsity of destinations across inland southern Scotland, the Borders and inland Northumberland, and a big empty space across the Midlands, though this may be understandably attributable to the species on offer and the time at which they are available. As a general guide, Lowen has managed seamlessly to blend botany, birds, mammals and fungi while not losing the sense of place and landscape in his descriptions. In fact there are few, if any, groups that don't get at least a mention; a handy grid allows you quickly to find weekend options that combine different groups. The guide benefits from Lowen's not being afraid to throw in some of his own quirky descriptions and opinion and his general laid-back, unstuffy approach to complex subjects such as orchid taxonomy. His all-round enthusiasm, whether describing an 'electric blue-eyed' Southern Migrant Hawker or Norfolk's 'wailing heath chicken' (Stone Curlew), is infectious and inspiring, and keeps the guide upbeat and punchy. Each weekend action ends with a useful 'Practicalities' page with directions for each of the key locations, including grid references, contact telephone numbers where appropriate, and suggestions for places to stay. A lot of thought has been put into this and it'll no doubt prove of great help to anyone following any of the weekend plans. 52 Wildlife Weekends will provide many with the inspiration to get close to nature somewhere across our islands, and might add a few destinations to the bucket lists of those already enthused. This is a guide well worth buying — regardless of your location, interest or expertise on anything wildlife-related. Let yourself be inspired!"

Wegenkaarten

Wegenkaart - landkaart 4 Roadmap Northern Engeland | Ordnance Survey

Wandelgidsen

Wandelgids Wandelen met Dickens | Totem publishing

Tien wandelingen waarin u Charles Dickens tegenkomt.

Wandelgids Northumberland Coast Path | Aurum Press

The Northumberland coastline stretches from the outskirts of Newcastle up to the Scottish border at Berwick-upon-Tweed – a popular holiday destination for its wild and sweeping landscape of endless beaches of pale sand, succession of spectacular castles like Bamburgh and Dunstanburgh, congenial resorts like Alnmouth, and unique offshore attractions like Holy Island and the Farne Islands. Now, Roland Tarr’s new Trail Guide maps out the walker’s route along the entire coast, starting from the centre of Newcastle and including an extension beyond Berwick to the seabird crags of St Abb’s Head.  Along the way the guide covers the remarkable industrial heritage of this coastline – the coalmining town of Ashington that gave birth to both the Ashington Group of Pitmen Painters and the Charlton brothers – and its fabulous wildlife, with seals and puffins off the shore. From a handsome Tyneside city to a distinguished border town straddling the Tweed, this is a superbly bracing walking country for the ever-increasing number of tourists who discover Northumberland every year.

Following the river from London until it became the sea, then following the sea until it reached the mouth of the Thames again was a beautifully simple idea. But after epic highs, incredible lows, unforgettable scenery and unpronounceable place names - as well as a hearty battle with some good old British weather - her simple idea turns into a compelling journey of self-discovery, and an eye-opening insight into what makes the island where she lives so special.

The maps are fully GPS compatible, with the National Grid shown at 1km intervals and latitude and longitude indicated by margin ticks at 1'. The Explorer series has replaced the earlier, green-cover Pathfinder maps. Public rights of way are shown (except in Scotland), together with other routes with public access: National Trails and Recreational Paths, permitted paths and bridleways, and selected cycle routes. Open access land created under the Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000 is marked. Reisverhalen

Wegenkaarten

Wegenkaart - landkaart 503 Wales, The Midlands, Southwest - zuidwest | Michelin
